BBC New Voices open auditions

At the weekend open auditions took place at every local BBC radio station in England and the Channel Islands for BBC local radio’s biggest ever talent search.

BBC Local Radio were looking for ordinary people with a passion for their local area to take to the mic. The audition was open to anyone over the age of 18 and no previous experience was required.

Judges from the 39 local radio stations included BBC editors, producers, presenters plus special guests included vocal coaches Carrie and David Grant and X Factor Finalist AND Presenter Danyl Johnson. Each candidate had to tell a 60 second story about something about themselves, local, personal or a passion of theirs. To get through to the next round you had to get at least 3 out of 4 yes’s from the panel.

The judges are looking for people who have the potential to contribute to existing shows, present their own one-off programme or even land a regular slot on a station.

With hundreds of people auditioned throughout the weekend, many of them were former TV Training Academy presenter students took to social media to let us know they were though to the next round.
